Habitat for Humanity of Greater Los
Angeles and Thrivent Financial for Lutherans
break ground on a new home for a local
family
Homeownership becomes reality for the
Lopez family.
Los
Angeles, CA
(March 21, 2007)– Habitat
for Humanity of Greater Los Angeles (www.habitatla.org)
and three Los Angeles area Thrivent Financial
for Lutherans Chapters broke ground to
build a home for a family in need. In
March Habitat for Humanity representatives,
Thrivent Financial representatives, Lutheran
volunteers, and the Lopez family gathered
in South Los Angeles to celebrate the
groundbreaking for their new home.
The
family, who currently live in
a converted garage, will soon
celebrate homeownership thanks
to a partnership with Habitat
for Humanity and Thrivent Financial.
Thrivent Financials "Thrivent
Builds" program works with Habitat
to build safe, affordable housing
nationwide. The Lopez’ home
will be the second to be fully-funded
by the organization in Los Angeles
in two years. The Lopez family
is expected to be able to move
into their new home by December
2007 - just in time for the Holidays!
